Our story

My journey with house painting began at a young age, around the time my father sold his detailing business and took up painting. His dedication to the craft naturally led me to learn the trade. Over time, house painting became a reliable source of work for me. For about nine years, I worked for different painting companies, where I gained hands-on experience and learned the tricks of the trade.

Making mistakes taught me the most valuable lessons, and despite the challenges, those experiences sharpened my skills and shaped who I am today as a painter and business owner. A lot of what I know is from working alongside seasoned painting veterans where I absorbed as much knowledge as I could. I realized early on that if I could learn in a few years what others had taken decades to master, it would give me a significant advantage. One of the most important lessons I learned was to never cut corners!

The decision to start my own business came after a serious injury that left me unable to work. I needed time to rest and was eventually let go from the company I was working for. I recognized the importance of work-life balance and having control over my own schedule. The positive feedback I received from previous employers about my work ethic and skills reinforced my belief that I could take my career to the next level. I’ve always valued constructive criticism and used it to improve.

I began taking on part-time painting jobs through a local community based app, Nextdoor, and quickly fell in love with the personal connections I formed with my clients. The name "Sunshine Painting" came to me after a heartfelt conversation with a client who shared her story of losing her husband and how my work had brought her comfort and joy during a difficult time. The name resonated deeply with me, representing not just my business, but the positive impact I strive to make on people’s lives.
